What to Expect

When you work with Coleman Design Studio, you can expect the following:

During your free consultation, either by phone/video or in-person, we will discuss an overview of your project goals.  If you and your particular project is a good fit for Coleman Design Studio (and vice versa), we will move forward with executing a contract and getting into the specifics of making your dream project come alive.  We will ask questions about how you live, what you like and don’t like, your budget, your timeline, and so forth.  Once we do this preliminary information gathering, we will evaluate and measure your space and take pictures.

Design development begins from here.  At the completion of design development, you will typically be presented with 2-3 options from which to move forward.  Most often, a 3D rendering is shown to help visualize your space.

Once a final design concept is chosen, construction documentation commences.  Detailed drawings—floor plans, elevations, lighting/electrical plans, etc.—will be created, along with specifications for materials, fixtures, and appliances.  These construction documents are the blueprint for your contractor to complete the project as designed.

When construction begins, Coleman Design Studio will move into a project management phase and be available to answer questions, mitigate any problems that may arise, and do site visits as necessary.  Once your final project is complete, we will photograph your space and congratulate you on your new, beautiful space!

Contract Specifics:

Your design investment will either be a flat fee based on the size and scope of your project or you will be charged hourly and invoiced regularly (preferred).

Coleman Design Studio is a design-only firm, so choosing a contractor will be a separate and distinct contract.  Interviewing and committing to a contractor as early as possible is ideal, as collaboration and communication with all project members leads to the most successful outcomes.  Any purchases related to your project—materials, fixtures, appliances, etc.—will typically be arranged through your contractor, not Coleman Design Studio.
